When is the last time you pushed yourself to a limit or a place where everything inside you wanted to stop and you KEPT GOING ANYWAY? There’s a certain feeling that brings that is unmatched. It’s a priceless feeling. And when you visit that place often, the easier it becomes to push yourself passed that point.
Are you doing the same thing everyday? Do you train the same way? Eat the same way? Same effort? Same pace? Same workout? Same program? We all know someone who has been going to the gym for five years and looks the same… who hasn’t improved their capabilities… who is no stronger for it. Because they don’t push themselves on a regular basis.
I got to thinking today, when is the time I was actually pushed to my limits? Today, I was pushed to the limit. I was two minutes into my seventh jiu jitsu round and every SINGLE bone in my body wanted to stop. I’m done… I’m spent… I have nothing left.
Then I did five MORE minutes.
And while those minutes may not have been my best performance ever, or it might not have been the most technical display of jiu jitsu you’ve ever seen in your life… I kept going.
There’s a certain feeling you get after that… a rush of endorphins… you get when you battle that feeling and keep going. It’s amazing.
You can start this at any level. It could be a walk, a run, extra weight on the bar, just push past that point where you feel like you have to quit… and keep going. Pushing yourself past these limits comes tremendous growth, in ANY area of your life.
People hate change. They love to live in their comfort zones. It’s only when you push yourself to these outer limits, that you really get to know yourself as well.
