If you are one of THOSE people, you know the ones…
The ones who are gearing up for a BIG holiday season, looking forward to trips and parties and time with family…
Who are postponing addressing their fitness and nutrition until AFTER the holidays…
You are setting yourself up for FAILURE.
If you want 2019 to be your best year yet… if you seriously feel like this is the time to address your health and fitness and you are saying to yourself that 2019 is going to be your best year yet… the time to start is NOW.
Here are two scenarios:
One person KNOWS they need to address their health and fitness, but they keep remembering the different things they have going on, and coming up with reasons to postpone really starting to work on it… they are going to wait until after the holidays, for the first of the year. But… because I KNOW I will be ready to address this in 2019, I am going to really enjoy the holidays! I’m going to indulge myself at every opportunity, because this will be my last chance before I get serious! I am going to squeeze every possible bit of enjoyment I can out of my ‘LAST’ chance to overdo it before I really start to work on my health. So you drink more, and sleep less. You eat all. The. things. Whenever you want…
As a result, you start to feel worse. Your energy is lagging. You’re sluggish. And you’re heavier than you were. You feel worse than you ever have… and now you have a mountain to climb to get fit and healthy! A mountain you are really too tired and stressed to climb… so, maybe you’ll start the fifteenth of January, instead of the first, because you’re just so tired. But it’s really cold in January and February, and who wants to climb out of a nice, warm bed an hour earlier to get to the gym? You’ll start when it warms up in spring. Except, when it warms up, the kids are on holiday… so maybe after their holiday… and before you know it, it’s 2020.
Person number two starts working now. They take action to start their journey right now… putting it off is no longer an option. They are starting now to build good habits to carry them into the New Year. Their energy levels are going up. They are going into the holidays with information and motivation to not overindulge to the point that it creates an insurmountable obstacle in their mind.
With scenario two, you still get to enjoy everything. You get nights out, big meals, and holiday treats. BUT, all the while, you know you are working to make positive changes to your own health and fitness. The impact of the extra cakes and a few pints is MINIMIZED because you have the information you need to better manage it, and access to training to help burn away those extra calories.
You go into 2019 motivated and energized. You’re well on your way to reaching your goals, with the habits and mindset you need to reach them. You have a plan in place, and know you are going to achieve what you are aiming for.
I know there will be people reading this who are just saying to themselves that they get what I am saying, but now isn’t the right time for THEM. They will get started after this thing happens, or once the new year starts, or whatever. Stop. That. How often have you said that to yourself? How many times do you need to put this off to know that you will just keep putting it off?
Start now. Go into 2019 with consistency, momentum and results.
