5 Tips To Stay Fit With Less Time For The Gym This Summer
July 24, 2018
Kids are home from school and now you have to sacrifice time at the gym to watch over them. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with 5 tips to keep up with a fitness routine so you don’t give yourself a mountain to climb when you get back to the gym in September.
The fastest way to fail is to not set yourself up for Success. Take the time to create a plan to stay or get fit. Give yourself flexibility to make changes as needed, but don’t give yourself excuses to not get results. This plan is your roadmap to health and fitness. You wouldn’t leave on a road trip without a map, don’t try to get fit without one either. You’ll want to plan when you’re going to train, what you’re going to eat, how you will spend your time, etc. With limited time for you in the Summer don’t waste any of it.
Get Fit First.
Schedule as much of your fitness routine as early as possible. There are a couple reasons to do this. Typically, motivation declines as the day goes on. More roadblocks can pop up throughout the day, giving you reasons to skip or skimp on your fitness routine. By getting your training done first thing in the morning, nothing that comes up later can stop you. Also by starting your day with fitness in mind, you’ll be more likely to make healthy choices throughout the day.
10k A Day.
Track and take at least 10,000 steps a day. You can use a smart watch, fitbit, plain old step counter or an app on your phone to track your steps. Join a community online to keep motivation up and celebrate your wins. The reason this is helpful is because it’s an easy way to burn 400-500 extra calories a day. If you’re trying to lose fat, a calorie deficit is required and this is a great way to get a solid amount burned per day. For me, if I’m close to my goal but not quite to 10k by the end of the day, I’ll be sure to take a walk until we hit it. It’s a great excuse to get the whole family outside to end the day getting fit together.
Learn To Track Your Food.
As mentioned up there, to get your body to lose fat, you’re going to need to create a calorie deficit. This means you’ll need to burn more calories than your eating. You don’t need to bust out a scale for every meal, but take a little time to figure out how many calories per day you should be taking in and start tracking what and how much you’re eating. Once you take a week or two to create your diet around your calorie intake you’ll see the fastest and most drastic results.
Finally, the most important tip in fitness, learning a new skill, life in general is… Consistency.
Consistency is the key to getting results no matter the goal. When you put in the time, you’ll get what you give. Don’t let mistakes, excuses or anything else get in your way and just keep going. The more consistent you are the easier it will become and you’ll be on to your next goal in no time.
Hope this helps you stay or get fit this summer while your chasing after the kids and waiting for life to get back into routine. 39 days until September, but who’s counting?
