At Urban Fitness we're all about staying healthy, No Excuses. Whether it's lack of equipment or time, where there's a will there's a way. Here's a few ways to make fitness happen this summer.
Use your body weight.
You don't *need* anything more. Push ups or a few sets of burpees will help you start sculpting out those shoulders and core. So don't say you can't get started without access to weights or machines. You've got what you need.
Time is not an excuse.
A lot of coaches will say to make the time. If you care about getting fit you'll give yourself the time to make it happen. And while that can be true, I say, life happens. If you've got 20 minutes, maximize it. Take it to your personal intensity limit. Just when you think it's time to stop, blast out a few more reps. Make that 20 minutes an explosion.
Keep your coach in your pocket.
No gym is NOT an excuse in this day and age. Between instagram , Facebook and YouTube there are guides to working out in any style, time frame or location you can think of and they're all sitting behind that screen in your hands. Find your guide and make it happen.
Find stairs or a bench and use water bottle dumbbells.
The world is your playground. Stairs are the easiest way to burn some extra calories because they're everywhere. Whether you're taking them instead of the elevator or seeking them out on a run to do a couple sets of, they're accessible and a great way to amp up your day. A simple bench can help you intensify push ups, aid in tricep dips, reverse lunges etc. Water bottles can be used loads of things such as tricep kickbacks, arm circles and overhead presses, and can also add resistance to lunges and squats.
Ocean swim and sand resistance If you're lucky and live near the Earth’s swimming pool, jump in! You don't have to cross great distances to get a good workout. Even treading against moving water will get your blood flowing. And in this summer heat there's really nothing better than that cool ocean water. While you're there, hit the sand. The moving, uneven ground creates resistance and will add intensity to anything you're doing on it.
Rent a bike Lastly, check out your city's bike rentals if you don't have one. This is also a great option if you're out of town on vacation or a work trip. Hop on and burn those calories.
All in all even if you follow one tip in this list you're better off than you were before. Take a look at what's around you and ask yourself how you can use it to get fit.
