Especially if you’re starting from absolute scratch, these 5 daily wins will add a massive and dramatic difference to your day. As a beginner it’s all about small wins and setting yourself up to move forward.
Make your bed
First thing in the morning, get up and make your bed. Studies show starting your routine by completing a task you’ve already set yourself up to be productive for the rest of the day. So even if there’s someone still in it, just make the bed over them ;) Now that you’re in a motivated state of mind, don’t waste the momentum. Right away, drink a pint of room temperature water with a squeeze of lemon. Hydration is key to becoming and remaining alert, especially first thing in the morning. Finally, before you do anything else, complete 15 burpees. Anyone and everyone can do these. No more than a clear spot in your living room needed and you can even break then up into a set of 8 then a set of 7 if necessary. Right away within the first 10 minutes of being awake you've completed three tasks and set yourself up to win the rest of the day.
I would suggest doing this with your morning lemon water, or with breakfast if your prefer to have a bit of food in your stomach with them. No matter what, committing to taking them everyday is another small but important win that directly correlates to your commitment to your health. I recommend taking fish oil, a multivitamin and vitamin D.
Be mindful of what you put in your mouth
How many times have you sat in front of a bowl and just mindlessly ate handful after handful of sweets/nuts/crisps. Ask yourself, are you even enjoying it? Think about what your eating and especially when you're indulging in a treat: Chew slowly so you can savor what you're tasting and eat until you're satisfied not stuffed. Every time you eat mindfully, that's another win.
Stop 2x daily to take 6 deep breaths
Be present in those breaths and destress. By concentrating on letting go for a few minutes and clearing your mind, you're creating a powerful tool to build off of. Set yourself up for a good sleep
Stop social media 2 hours before bed, get off your email, put your phone away, and get yourself into a relaxed state. Go to sleep with a clear head and you'll start and end your day with small but impactful wins.
