When you’re beginning your fitness journey, you’ll be doing yourself no favors if you don’t have goals in place. I’m talking realistic, achievable, measurable goals. That vision board with beautiful people in tight, cropped clothing is motivating I’m sure, but how does that translate to what you want to do with your health and fitness? And how are you going to get there?
Thinking about what you want to gain (or lose) from committing to a better lifestyle will bring you focus in the tough times. It will keep you on track when there are cookies in the office again. It’ll make dragging yourself out of bed early to get a run in feel more than worth it.
Because the thing is, it’s not always going to feel worth it.
When everyone else goes home exhausted after a tough day and sits on their couch, indulges in a meal you could snuggle up in, turns on their current binge show and calls it a night you’re going to get a mean case of side eye while you’re on your way to the gym and going home to a lot of vegetables.
These are the days where you will need Goals
#goals is a nice thought when your scrolling through Insta and see someone else gettin it but you need your own solid foundation to keep your focus.
Setting goals shouldn’t be a long or complicated process.
Keep things as simple as possible. Don’t set yourself up for failure.
Figure out what’s realistic. Are you really going to keep up with going to the gym every single day?
What can you actually achieve? Setting goals that aren’t attainable is the biggest disservice you can give yourself. Set expectations but keep them within your abilities and give yourself room to smash them.
Make sure your goals are measurable. Seeing is believing and until you’ve established fitness in your routine and can feel the difference, looking at a solid before and after number will feel so good.
Obviously, everyone is different so your goals are going to be vastly different as well. Leave your comparisons at the door and just get in there.
When you start achieving your goals and getting those fitness wins, that is #goals
